Handgun orientation (Classroom only)

The non-shooting course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and the necessary understanding for safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. 

This is a 2.5 hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. The Handgun Orientation course is a great way for you to learn the basics of pistol shooting!

This is the perfect class for the beginner looking to become familiar with handguns.  This course utilizes SIRT training tools and there is no live fire.

* Under 21 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian

BEGINNER Handgun

Beginner Handgun is a great way for you to learn the basics of pistol shooting! If you are looking for a handgun safety class, this is your best starter class for handling a gun safely and effectively.

This half-day beginners’ shooting class includes the Handgun Orientation classroom course as well as range time instruction and firing live ammunition. We will also practice manipulations for malfunctions.  Students will learn fundamentals of gun safety and learn best practices for using a firearm in a self-defense situation according to local gun rules and regulations.

Prerequisites:

None. Normally, each student supplies their own handgun. Otherwise, gun rental is available provided you can legally handle a firearm. Please clean and lubricate your gun in advance of the course or bring your gun cleaning kit with you.

Bring The Following:

  • Handgun. Centerfire only, no rimfire handguns

  • Three magazines or three-speed loaders if using a revolver

  • Holster fit to your firearm

  • Belt, magazine pouch or other means of carrying additional ammunition

  • Eye and ear protection (available to rent on site)

  • Minimum 150 rounds ammunition

  • Proper clothing for the weather (Sunscreen, hat, long-sleeve shirt, long pants, closed toe shoes)

  • Snacks, lunch and plenty of water

  • Notebook and pen

DEFENSIVE Handgun

Defensive Handgun is for shooters looking to improve on fundamentals and test themselves with techniques on shooting under pressure. This course is approximately 6 hours in length and includes classroom instruction and shooting exercises on the range. This Course will give students a solid road map of what to practice and how to improve and maintain proficiency.  To further their knowledge to take advance courses.

Our instructors will reinforce all of the safety principles taught in Handgun Training — 101. This course strives for an even balance of education, discussion, and skill acquisition. Hands-on instruction and muscle memory training are introduced to promote a calm tempo under pressure and attention to detail. Students will learn how to safely draw out of the holster as well as reloading under stress. This Course is designed for those who want to increase skill level with handguns. Live-fire exercise ensures the student will properly grasp all learning objectives, including improved accuracy, gun-handling, and marksmanship.

Street Survial— 103 is designed for the handgun enthusiast who wants to move beyond the basics. The participants should be familiar with drawing out of the holster, loading and unloading their firearms, and the fundamentals of aiming safely while firing their handgun. This class will focus on the defensive use of handguns. This class will help you become a more skillful shooter while increasing your confidence. 

There are no shortcuts around true fundamentals of marksmanship. It is the root of all shooting disciplines. Although the fundamentals slightly differ between handgun and rifle shooting, they both share a form of aiming, breathing, correct stance and positioning, trigger control, and follow-through. Whether your goal is hunting, recreation, self-defense, military or law enforcement, your journey starts, grows, and is sustained with continued training in marksmanship fundamentals.

  • High speed target acquisition 

  • Efficient presentations from the holster, both tactical and emergency reloading

  • Movement during firearm presentation

  • Shooting on the move

  • Shooting around and over cover  

  • Multiple target acquisition and engagement
